    KRRA - Limestone Race Weekend

The event was a tremendous success with thanks to Race Directors Ed Brand, PJ Taylor volunteers and sponsors. Media on the event came from The Kingston Whig Standard, 365ontario.info and a blog from race participant.

This race is organized and supported by the Kingston Road Runners Association in support of KRRA charitable causes as well as the Kingston General Hospital Trauma Program and Start2Finish (formerly KidsFest Canada) and their excellent Running and Reading clubs for children at two public schools in Kingston.

The weekend starts on Saturday with the Trauma 10k, a one-of-a-kind run along the Kingston waterfront. This race begins and ends in MacDonald Park, near the foot of Emily Street. The KGH Trauma 10k race is aimed at raising awareness and injury prevention of year round causes of trauma. Some examples are snowmobile and boating accidents, and car crashes, all of which are preventable.

Sunday morning the gun goes to start the Limestone 5k and 1/2 Marathon races. Runners in both events race to the finish in front of Kingston’s 170 year-old City Hall. Just one thing, the 1/2 marathoners have another 16.1 kms of running ahead of them, along our beautiful waterfront and back to City Hall for hot chili from the Brew Pub, prizes and music!
