| Unless I've calculated incorrectly, the Lake Biwa Mainichi Marathon at which Kingston's Dylan Wykes will make a final hit-or-miss bid for the London Olympics will start at 10:30 p.m. tonight Kingston time (12:30 p.m. Sunday, Japan Standard Time).
Here are some tips for anyone still wondering how to follow Dylan's progress "live." (If you have more resources, it would be great if you could add them as a reply here.)
Brett Larner at Japan Running News says he'll try to mention the situation for Wykes and the other elite Canadian, Steve Osaduik, as often as he can.
JRN is on Twitter here: twitter.com/JRNHeadlines ... but "live tweeting" of races in Japan is done through a second account: twitter.com/JRNLive
As explained by JRN, you can watch quite a bit of Japanese television live on the Net with the KeyHole TV Viewer software available here: www.keyholetv.jp
I downloaded the Windows version and within a couple minutes was watching Japanese broadcast TV, including the NHK network (Japan's CBC), which will be carrying the race.
When using this software, you are relying on the kindness of others to broadcast, so there's no guarantee it'll always be working!
(Coverage is supposed to start on NHK 15 minutes before gun time.)
