2013 KRRA Series Standings

Here are the 2013 KRRA Race Series standings after the first two races of the year.
131 runners took to the streets in the annual 5k KRRA Twosome Run at Winston Churchill Public School. Last year's winners, Nick McGraw and Lauren Prufer successfully defended their title on some snow-covered streets.

There is plenty of running and racing still available this month. Please consider the Tracy Kirkland Family Fun Run/Walk being held on November 10th at Lemoine Point. It's all to assist with the medical care and recovery of a fellow Kingston runner!
Join us on November 4th for the final race in the 2012 KRRA/Runners' Choice Race Series. This race is a fun and challenging 10k run from the airport through Westpark subdivision back to the lake, with a little jog into Lemoine Point and back to The Landings Golf Club. The KRRA is also proud to be associated with the Kingston Humane Society again this year by having the 3km KHS Dog Walk one hour before the race. Full race details here.

Hello Runners, I like to thank for the 111 runners that came out to the 2012 Run With The Wild. With support with the volunteers we were able to raise over $4,000 for the Canadian Diabetes Association. I like to congratulate Alex Hutton 17:06:6 and Patricia Roney 19:05:2 for coming in first overall. (full results here). Over 450 runners took to the streets in the ever-popular Beat Beethoven 8k road race in support of the Kingston Symphony Association. Matt Hulse and Paula Wiltse captured the men's and women's title. Full results are available at sportstats.ca.

Join us on June 3rd for the popular Beat Beethoven race in downtown Kingston! The Kingston Symphony will play a Beethoven selection and it's up to you to finish the 8k run or 4k walk before they finish (50 minutes or so).
Congrats and thanks to all who raced or volunteered at the 2012 Limestone Race Weekend. Great weather greeted the athletes who challenged the 3k, 10k, 5k and half marathon courses.
Dylan Wykes will be racing the Olympic Marathon at 6:00 AM EST on Sunday, August 12, 2012. Support him on his road to London by making a donation to his training fund.

Congrats to all who raced today in day one of Limestone Race Weekend. Great weather greeted the kids at City Park for the Start2Finish 3k. Then it was time for the grownups to challenge the new waterfront 10k course in support of the KGH Trauma program. Kudos to Colin Shannon and Nicole Phythian who overcame not only the other 100+ runners but also considerably more waterfront shadflies.

Twosome Run Report

Mother Nature delivered wintery conditions right on time for the 2012 KRRA Twosome Run on February 12th. That fact didn't deter 165 runners (and 72 teams) from racing the 5k course in support of the Limestone Learning Foundation.
Congrats to Nick McGraw and Lauren Prufer as the top Twosome (in addition to their individual victories)!

2012 Resolution Run

Clear, crisp skies greeted approximately 100 runners at the 2012 KRRA Resolution Run 8k race on January 8th.
This race represents the start of the 2012 racing season. In this year's race, mother/son tandem Heather Ostic and Ben Workman pulled out victories to launch the 2012 KRRA Race Series.

2012 KRRA Twosome Run 5k

The 2012 KRRA Race Series continues on February 12th with the 5k Twosome Run. In this unique event, runners compete as individuals for KRRA series points, but can also compete as male-female teams for "twosome" overall and combined age group placings. Same-sex teams and "onesomes" are also welcome.
Post-race refreshments, draw prizes and awards take place in the warmth of the Winston Churchill Public School gymnasium. It's all in support of the Limestone Learning Foundation.

New Years Resolution time - join us for the 32nd Annual KRRA Resolution Run 8k on January 8th.
This challenging course includes a trip up and down Fort Henry Hill - the gun goes at 10am.
Oh, the best part - warm up with some nice hot chili (meat or veggie) from the Kingston Brewing Company. ANNNND - there's a free indoor fun run for kids under 12. The proceeds help to support the Brenda Cupido Memorial Breast Cancer Service in memory of Colleen Wall.

The KRRA Race Series continues on October 29th at Fort Henry with the Great-West Life Flight at Fort Fright 5k!
KRRA is pleased to announce that Megan Kiley and Blair Morgan are the winners of
the 2011 KRRA Bursaries.
Megan Kiley is a graduate of Loyalist Collegiate. A multi‐sport athlete, Megan was a
member of her school’s Cross Country team and has competed in KRRA Road Races and the KTown
Short Course Triathlon.
Blair is a graduate of Ernestown Secondary School. He entered his first
road race in 1996 and his first triathlon at the age of eight. Blair has been a multisport
athlete at Ernestown and has represented his school at OFSAA five times and will be attending McMaster University in September to study Engineering.
The bursaries will be presented at the 2011 Limestone Mile on July 1, 2011.

KRRA Jackets
KRRA members wishing to order club jackets will be able to do so on Saturday, April 2, at Runners Choice (56 Brock St.) from 2:00 to 5:30 pm. The cost will be $45.00 and you will have to pre-pay with a cheque or cash to confirm your order.
Orders will also be accepted at Runners Choice on Monday, April 4 from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. This is a short timeline; we would like to have them in time for the Limestone Race Weekend.

It's an annual KRRA/Runners' Choice event! For those not making the trek to Hamilton for the Around The Bay Road Race, here's a local (and free) 30k (or less) event (not a race) for you.
Join some of the regular KRRA runners on Sunday morning (March 27th) as they run from Gananoque (Subway) to Kingston (Runners' Choice) - approximately 30k. Options exist to run just a portion or team up and run it as a relay.
The group will meet at Runners' Choice Kingston (56 Brock) at 8AM Sunday - contact Runners' Choice to get your name on the list and coordinate rides.

Runners can expect a wintery trip around the RMC point, followed by a nice excursion up Fort Henry Hill and into CFB Kingston before returning down the hill for a sprint finish (?). Oh, and then the best part - warm up with some nice hot chili (meat or veggie) from the Kingston Brewing Company.

Annual Santa Run
Join Runners’ Choice for the Annual Santa Run on Sunday, December 19th. Meet at the store at 9:30 for a fun 5k run and then join us for refreshments and draw prizes for everyone afterwords. Holiday attire is encouraged as there will be prizes for best costume. This will also be the first of many Runners’ Choice events that will be filmed! This run is purely for fun and is not timed. There is no fee however a food bank donation is required to be eligible for prizes.

Flight at Fort Fright: Congrats to Kevin Webster and Jutta Merilainen for their victories at Flight at Fort Fright on October 30th. Full race details here.
Anniversary Run: Join us on November 7th for the final race in the 2010 KRRA/Runners' Choice Race Series. This race is a fun and
challenging 10k run from the airport through Westpark subdivision back to the lake, with a little jog into Lemoine Point and back to The

Run With The Wild
First of all, congrats to all who ran the Brockville Half Marathon or 5k on the Thousand Island Parkway on Saturday!! What a great day for a race! Please check the Brockville Road Runners website for race results when they become available.
Next up is the Run With The Wild Cross Country 5k at Lemoine Point on Saturday, Sept 18th. You can register online or in person for this race - see the race website for full details or Find Us On Facebook!

Run With The Wild
Run with the Wild is a 5km cross country run through the trails at Lemoine Point Conservation Area ( North Entrance ). The race will start at 11am on Saturday, September 18th. The course has changed this year to allow runners to experience more of the park. There will be awards, post refreshments and many door prizes donated by local Kingston businesses.
To enter you can get an entry form at Runners Choice or online at this site. T-shirts will be available if you enter by Saturday, September 4th. For more information look for Run With The Wild on Facebook.

2010 Race Series Results

KRRA is pleased to announce that Jeff Archer is the winner of the 2010 KRRA Bursary. Jeff is a graduate of Sydenham High School and will be attending Queen’ University in the fall. Jeff is an accomplished runner having successfully competed at OFSAA Track, OFSAA Cross Country, and a number of EOSSA and KASSAA meets during his high school running career. As well he has competed in a number of local and area road races. He has been active as a volunteer coach, in leadership programs and in races. He has maintained a high academic standing and prides himself as a runner who gained success through hard work and perseverance. The bursary will be presented on Thursday, July 1 at the award ceremony for the Limestone Mile.

Twosome Run
Pleasant February temperatures and sunny skies greeted 139 runners (including 60 teams) at the 2010 KRRA Twosome Run for a 5k race on the streets of Kingston.
The winning team Dylan Wykes and Francine Darroch completed the 5k course in a combined time of 35:12.9.
Congrats to everyone that took part and thanks to all volunteers and sponsors.
Nick McGraw and Heather Ostic were the big winners as a fresh blanket of snow and a hilly course greeted almost 100 of Kingston's heartiest runners at the 30th annual Resolution Run on January 3rd.

Resolution Run 8k
A fresh blanket of snow and a hilly course will await some of Kingston's heartiest runners on Sunday, January 3rd at the 30th annual Resolution Run.
The fun begins at 9:30 with an indoor fun run for kids, with the 8k outdoor race beginning at 10AM on the RMC side of Highway 2. At 10:15, Colleen's Memorial Run/Walk begins with proceeds going to The Andy Fund.

Annual General Meeting Wrap Up
The Kingston Road Runners celebrated the end of its 2009 Race Series with its Annual General Meeting and Awards on November 19th.
Randy Zabukovec gave an entertaining and motivational talk about his career as a runner, triathlete and coach. In addition to the Series Awards, Al Cantlay presented the 2009 Coach's Award to Heather Ostic.
Please note that if you couldn't attend the AGM, and you are a Series Award Winner, you can pick up your award at Runners' Choice. You don't have to be a KRRA member to win an award!
One final item - the KRRA is looking for interested volunteers to become a member of the KRRA Board of Directors for 2010. We need a new secretary, as well as members-at-large. If anyone is interested in learning more, they can email Ed Brand or come to our next Board meeting at the Brew Pub on Monday, Dec. 14 at 7:00pm.

$500 KRRA Bursaries for Students
In 2010, the KRRA will be awarding $500 bursaries to one male and one female graduating high school runners who are planning to attend post-secondary education in the Fall of 2010.
Graduating students from KASSAA schools will be eligible. For full eligibility criteria, please see the application form.

Anniversary Run 10k
KRRA Race Series event #10 goes Sunday, Nov 1st with the Anniversary Run 10k. This race starts at 1PM at The Landings (Kingston Airport). It's also the LAST race in the KRRA Race Series for 2009 so Race Series Standings could be on the line!
This event also features a 1k fun run for kids and a 1k/3k dog walk in support of the Kingston Humane Society. Click here for the pledge form for the 1k/3k.

Gananoque to Kingston 30K The annual Runners' Choice Gananoque to Kingston 30K will take place on Sunday, March 29th. If you aren't up to doing the whole distance you can do 15, 20 or 25 instead (all distances are approximate). There is no cost to take part and we will be carpooling so volunteer drivers are also required. Tuesday Night Training February 24th will be the last Tuesday Night Work-out at the KMCSC. Join Al and special guest coach Kevin Dunbar at 5:45 in the field house for a great work-out then we will be moving back outside on March 3rd. Congratulations to Alexander Hinton (27:06) and Heather Ostic (31:55) for taking top spots among the men and women in the 29th Annual KRRA Resolution Run on January 4.
Nearly 100 runners completed the 8KM run around RMC and over Fort Henry Hill, while more runners and walkers participated in the 2nd Annual Colleen Wall Memorial Event, held inside the Kingston Military Community Sports Centre in support of the Andy Fund of Kingston.

Just a reminder that the deadline for T-shirt orders from all participants in the 29th Annual Kingston Road Runners Association Resolution Run and the Second Annual Colleen's Memorial Fun Run/Walk — both Sunday, January 4, at the Kingston Military Community Sports Centre — is Saturday, December 27.
Since last year, when the charity run/walk in memory of Colleen Wall was paired with the long-standing 8km New Year's event of the Road Runners, all profits from the day's activities have gone to the Andy Fund of Kingston and its Cancer-patient support efforts.
Whether registering for the 8km run around RMC and over Fort Henry Hill or opting for Colleen's event on the indoor track at the Sports Centre, December 27 is the deadline for registrants who want to ensure they receive a T-shirt commemorating their participation.
Participants in Colleen's Memorial Event are eligible for Resolution Run shirts (or a running hat) if they raise $50 or more in pledges. It's important that those collecting pledges also complete a hard-copy event registration form to reserve their shirt or hat.
Hard-copy Resolution Run registration forms and Memorial Event pledge sheets can be picked up at Runners' Choice, 260 Princess Street, or downloaded from the Resolution Run Website.
