Limestone Race Weekend includes a 5K Race, the Waterfront 10K, or the Historic Half Marathon Race. There’s even a 2K Tom Compton Memorial Run for kids. It’s the original, all-volunteer community event.
This running event is part of the KRRA RACE SERIES. Series points awarded for the 5K and 10K Races are 75 overall, and 15 points for age category. The Half Marathon points are 100 overall, and 20 points for age category.

Tom Compton was an active runner and biker who worked in the elementary education system. His focus was to help students achieve their goals, not only in the classroom, but also in sports and physical activities. We are proud to host this event, with the support of his family, in his honour.
The 10K route will take runners through the penitentiary and exit onto King Street West, through the Olympic harbour ring road and link up with the Waterfront Trail. This will include a segment through the Providence Care Hospital roadway network before continuing on the Lakefront Trail. Runners will be guided to a turnaround location inside Lake Ontario Park near the corner of King Street West. Runners will return to the start/finish line, on the east side of the penitentiary following the same network of trails and roads.

The Historic Half Marathon course makes an exciting detour. Half marathon runners are going to prison: the Kingston Penitentiary. Runners enter the south waterside entrance; run in the gate; through the prison yard; past the cell buildings, and out the north door (near the entrance) onto King Street.
Race prices vary. Please check back when registration opens.
Runners aged 13 and under are ineligible to run the 10K.
Runners aged 15 and under are ineligible to run the Half Marathon.
